Being a dad isn’t cheering at the game,
it’s schlepping them to practice 3 or 4 times a week.
Being a dad isn’t proudly watching the concert,
it’s listening to eternal scales played over and over.
Being a dad isn’t showing up at the banquet,
it’s working the fundraiser that makes the banquet possible
Being a dad isn’t walking her down the aisle,
it’s holding her hand through all the teenage heartbreak
Being a dad isn’t glowing with pride at graduation,
it’s years of teacher conferences and homework problems
Being a Dad is a tough job, and I love it
but don’t confuse the work with the pay.
